Hardware Tiers
Supporting Rationale/Explanation of Need
Performance testing
can require advanced hardware. Test sponsors (those that are
paying for the test creation) need to know what is currently
available in the test delivery channels.
Test
providers need to calculate ROI on hardware upgrades, based
on projected delivery numbers. This document is intended as
a guideline to assist in this communication by providing a
vocabulary for discussing hardware requirements and capabilities.
Expected Value/Benefit
This document is intended
to assist in streamlining communication between test providers
and test
administration centers, providing a common language for expectations
and capabilities. It will also assist in defining market demand
and revenue expectations around each tier and can facilitate
a test center’s move to upgrade delivery hardware.
Potential Impacts and Side Effects
This document is not intended
as a comprehensive list of all possible hardware needs. It
is inappropriate to use this document as a mechanism to restrict
choice in hardware capabilities.
